To The Other Side of Dreaming

Feb 28 2012

in gratitude

Dear Mia,

This week I had the opportunity to write about what To The Other Side of Dreaming meant to me. It was not only an chance to reflect only our relationship and learning as two queer physically disabled Korean-American women of color, but also to really remember what it meant to feel support from so many people. To have community at our backs.

Can you believe we had a “dream team” - a core of friends around the country who met on conference calls to brainstorm resources and do tasks like map your moving truck from ATL to the Bay?

Can you believe we were supported with over $10,000, in donations of $5, $100, $1000? Can you believe loved ones - other queer disabled people of color - did amazing things like open up etsy shops and run zine distros for us?

Tonight I am thinking about the magic we create when we are together. In community. I am thinking about what life has held when we bring out the best in each other. What all is still possible.

What an adventure To the Other Side of Dreaming has been.

Love,
Stacey
